The "Winks Wreck" is NOT a barge, It is a wooden steamer it has 2 steam cylinders, boilers, a large steering quadrant, a windlass, and a lot of other stuff. There is a lot of shiny copper spikes sticking out of the wooden hull and a good bit of copper all over it. It is currently very exposed, 8 feet deeper than last year. All I saw last year was the top of stuff so that is why I was confused. Really cool beach wreck. Dove it today.

I think I could come up with a boat with driver/diver who would be very cooperative if you want me to.

Just been back from vacation at Rodanthe. The wreck you mention at end of Corbina was a walking distance from the house. Took the kids there a couple of times. Big thrill with everybody, especially my daughter (8 years old).

Would you have any information in this particular wreck (date of wreck, type of boat, story...) ?

Thanks!

I don't really know much about that wreck other than it is a barge. It is fun to take the kids on, My daughter loves it.

The Rum Runner dive shop in Winterville/Greenville is trying to put together a fun weekend camping at the Rodanthe campgroud and diving the Triangle wrecks. You may want to give them a call to dive with a great group. They are looking to do a Kayak/shore dive for an upcoming weekend. I am sure they would love a local tourguide!!!

Marc,

With 32 shoredives, it is time for you to self publish. In Florida, there is a coastal Shore dive guide, Heavy paper outside with a dive flag on it, each two facing pages represent a site with photos, not only of the wreck, but land marks to find the wreck. He includes directions with pertinent parking info, drawings, GPS coordinates, permit info if required, as much wreck info as he can provide, and consigns them to the store for $8 each. He uses a poor mans copyright to protect himself, and the stores are selling them for $12 each.

His first batch was 300, and I would bet, at a similar price, you could sell that many right here!!! $2400 is alot of diving gear!!!

Let me know when you have them, I know I need 3 today!!
If you wish to send me a private message, please send it to rdbradish@bradish.us.

Thanks!!

There are parts of the "Triangle Wrecks" that very few people know about. They are further out in the water.
